From BriteSpotz to CreekStreet: A Rebranding Story

Updated: Aug 5

I am very excited to begin this journey with CreekStreet Studio! The decision to reimagine and rebrand BriteSpotz came easily once I faced the fact that it just wasn't working and that I needed to step back and approach my business in a more structured, systematic way. Initially, I thought of simply restarting BriteSpotz but decided against it for several reasons.

Why am I changing the name of my Brand?

  1. BriteSpotz never truly reflected my personality or the nature of my business.

  2. I prematurely registered BriteSpotz as an LLC in Massachusetts, which cost over $650 annually, including $520 for registration and $150 for legal management. Without generating income, this was not sustainable.

  3. Cancelling my LLC complicated setting up a Sole Proprietorship under the same name due to Massachusetts' regulations.

  4. Since I was starting fresh and rebuilding my business the right way, it felt right to also have a new name. This gave me the opportunity to plan my launch, build a mailing list, and create a community with a brand that truly represents me.

How did I land on the name "CreekStreet Studio"?

I agonized over the new name, trying dozens of options. CreekStreet was one of the first names I thought of and kept coming back to. Then I had to decide if I should be CreekStreet Studio, CreekStreet Art, CreekStreet Design, CreekStreet Creative, or something else. Thank you to everyone who helped me with this decision!

CreekStreet Studio is about evoking a feeling rather than indicating a location. I imagine a cottage on a wooded lot with lovely gardens and a wide creek running along the back. My studio overlooks this serene view, inspiring my creativity.

Why didn't BriteSpotz thrive as a business?

I am a multi-passionate creative, and creating is what I love to do. I discovered Surface Pattern Design in October 2020, was hooked, and immediately dove in. I took multiple classes that taught both design and business concepts. However, I focused primarily on creating designs and honing my skills, not on the essential tasks needed for building a business. My strength is in creating, and I allowed myself to focus solely on that, leaving my designs unused in a business that wasn’t thriving.

What am I doing differently now?

I made a plan and am sticking to it! I reviewed my courses and am focusing on the essentials. A detailed action plan with dates keeps me on track, covering tasks needed to dissolve BriteSpotz and start CreekStreet Studio.

What is my strategy for Social Media?

I will rename my current "BriteSpotz" account on Instagram to avoid losing current followers, and all of my existing posts will remain. I will also research the benefits of adding other social platforms such as Pinterest, Facebook, and TikTok.

What happens to the designs I have already created?

I will keep the best designs in my portfolio. The BriteSpotz logo will remain on current Instagram posts for now. New designs will be branded with CreekStreet Studio. I will begin to refresh, rebrand, and repurpose existing artwork into cohesive collections under the CreekStreet Studio brand.

Next Steps for CreekStreet Studio

In addition to building a strong foundation with my website, email list, blog, and social media, I am working on a new collection to celebrate the launch of CreekStreet Studio! I plan to use this collection as my first offerings in a Spoonflower shop, on stationery and art prints on Etsy, and to pursue licensing deals.

I hope you are as excited as I am about this new chapter! Join me on this journey by signing up for my email list, following me on Instagram, and providing feedback as I move forward in this adventure!
